App Anvil (2023)
UI and UX Designer
App Anvil is a new interface for the App Armor program. The app is specifically designed to be much more user friendly and more click and scroll based rather than kernel based. There was a lot of research that went into creating this app prototype so it can be progressed to the development stage.
For this prototype, I worked in a team with my other classmates. I was personally in charge of designing out the Homepage/Programs screen. We performed research on the App Armor system and instantly found out how non-user friendly the program is. For those who don’t know, App Armor is one of the biggest security programs for Linux devices, which has the capability of protecting data within the computer from being accessed by certain programs. With our redesign and prototype development, we were focused on making the user experience flow and much more efficient than using the kernel based. But, we still wanted our program to be used by these hardcore kernel based champions, so we have extended options in profile creation so that these more tech savvy users also can use their prowess to their advantage.
